To accompany some of our salads, or our potatoes that have just come out of the oven, we do not hesitate to resort to this creamy red sauce and the tasty taste of ketchup. Heinz ketchup is one of the most popular and popular ketchup in the world. However, it was recently banned from Israel, because of its low content of tomatoes and its zero nutritional value. In addition to this, its effects on health are detrimental because its composition includes a large amount of sugar and genetically modified products.

Here's why you should avoid consuming Heinz ketchup:

It contains a large amount of high fructose corn syrup

Among the main ingredients of Heinz brand ketchup, high fructose corn syrup. This syrup is prepared by subjecting corn syrup to certain enzymatic processes in order to increase its fructose content and then mixing the resulting syrup with pure corn syrup to obtain an even higher sweetening syrup. This, not to mention that the corn used in the manufacture of these syrups is a genetically modified maize.

Once consumed, this high fructose corn syrup, also known as glucose-fructose or isoglucose, causes a blood glucose peak and increases the risk of liver damage. Moreover, several studies have linked its consumption with the increased risks of diabetes, obesity, immune weakness and heart disease.

A study conducted by researchers at Princeton University compared the health impact of high fructose corn syrup consumption with that of raw sugar.

Carried out on two groups of rats, the first was given sugar water in high-fructose corn syrup, and the second, water sweetened with sugar, making sure that the caloric intake was the Even in both groups. The results of the study showed that the first group had a much higher weight gain than the second group, in addition to an abnormal increase in body fat and especially abdominal fat, as well as an increase in triglyceride levels in the blood.

It contains a large amount of sugar

In addition to corn syrup, the Heinz ketchup also contains added sugar. Each serving of about one tablespoon, contains nearly 4 grams of sugar.

Consuming so much sugar during a single meal causes a rapid and sudden increase in blood sugar, which in the long run can cause damage to the liver and pancreas, insulin resistance And the onset of diabetes.

In addition, an American study, published in Journal of Physiology, showed that excessive sugar intake affects memory, slows brain function and hinders learning.

It has no nutritional value

To talk about the nutritional value of ketchup, you just have to look on its label: it's simple, it does not contain any. Ketchup contains no fiber, protein, vitamins or minerals. It contains only a small amount of tomato concentrate, with a negligible lycopene content - an antioxidant.

By knowing all this, there is no longer any reason to consume a sauce that does not bring you any nutrients, but rather a large amount of sugar and products from genetically modified organisms that jeopardize your health.
