10 Things Your Mom Never Told You

It was as clear as day, two blue lines displayed on my pregnancy test. 2 lines = enclosure. A storm of emotions invaded me, my heart was beating. I was torn between anguish and serenity, between nerves and joy, all at the same time. After dreaming years of this moment, here it is realized now, I'm there! I'm going to be Mom.

I was not aware that what would follow after the 9 months of pregnancy was going to be the most difficult, the most exhausting, but the most rewarding and lifelong!

Nine months past, I began to realize the sacrifices it takes, to measure the courage to be a mother. I finally assimilated the notion of maternity by discovering myself from another angle, that of the admirer of the magnificent woman whom I call myself "mamma".

I was finally going to discover the mysterious universe of mothers who undoubtedly remains an enigma for those who have not experienced this experience, and for children who know very little about the subject.

Here are the 10 things your mom never told you:

1- You were the cause of her tears, many tears: she cried when she knew for her pregnancy and after nine months she cried by giving birth to you. She wept for joy for the first time in her arms. She cried with fear and anxiety because she wanted you to be safe and healthy. She cried because she shares your feelings, your pain and your happiness whether you realize it or not.

2- Her heart broke every time she saw you crying: For the mother there is no more sad than the sound of your tears and no more horrible than the image of tears running down your face. She did everything to comfort you and make you happy and when she did not succeed her heart broke in pieces.

3- You hurt her when you clung to her with your tiny nails, still impossible to cut and when you bit her nipple breasts. You also hurt him with your kicks in the ribs when you were in his stomach and when you stretched the skin of his belly like a balloon. You made the muscles of your whole body contract in unimaginable pain while you were born.

4- She has always been afraid: Since the day she discovered your existence, she has done everything to protect you. It was the mother who wanted to say no to the little girl on the landing that insisted on taking you in her arms and finally biting her lips nervously when the little girl had what she wanted, thinking every second that the child Could make you fall by accident. His heart nearly let go, seeing you take your first steps. She was watching late at night and was not asleep until she was sure that you had gone home, and on the other hand woke up earlier than you did to get ready to go to school. With every little scratch and every nightmare she answered present.

5- She is her worst critic: She knows all her faults and knows that she is not perfect. She is even harder with herself when it comes to you. She wanted to be the mommy star, as perfect as possible of mothers, however it is a human being and a human being makes mistakes. She would even have liked to be a time machine to fill all the flaws and correct the faults she deems unforgivable. She tries hard to forgive herself but does not succeed. Reassure her and tell her, she did the best she could.

6- She watched you while you slept: some nights she was awake until 3am until you slept. She sang lullabies while her eyes closed. When finally you succumbed to sleep she remained there and watching you in that peaceful moment her heart filled with so much love that she forgot her fatigue.

7- She took you a more than nine months: She did more than her role as a genitor, you needed her and she did not let you down. She learned to hold you in her arms while she was serving the house and while she was eating. Sometimes she had no choice because her back or arms were aching, but she still held you, played with you and cuddled you because you felt safe when she did. She did so without restraint

8- Her heart broke every time she saw you crying: For the mother there is no more sad than the sound of your tears and no more horrible than the image of tears running down your face. She did everything to comfort you and make you happy and when she did not succeed her heart broke in pieces.

9- You were her # 1 priority: she put your needs ahead of her family. She skipped meals, shifted or even canceled appointments, she spent all her energy to meet your needs so that it does not remain for itself.

10- If it had to be done again, she would not hesitate: being a mother will push you to surpass your limits, it is one of the most difficult caps to wear. You are preparing for the worst but it is complicated to pin down the real harshness of this role of Mom. You cry, you fail, you hurt yourself, you are wrong and your work will be incredibly hard. Despite everything, you will experience immense joys and pride and if it was to be redone? Without hesitation!

So next time you see her, tell her thank you and how much you love her. She will never get enough of hearing it.
