Know Your Calorie Budget

How many calories you need for your body to perform its daily functions depend on your body size and gender. The bigger you are, the more calories you will need. Men usually require more calories than women. The equation for weight loss is simple: Burn more calories than you consume each day to lose weight. Calculate how many calories you can eat per day to lose one pound per week by plugging in the numbers into the following equation:

(Your weight in pounds x 15) + (moderate activity in minute/day x 3.5) – 500 kcal (kcal is the unit for calorie)
For example: I weight 140 lb and walk about 20 minutes+a=day. To)lose°one(pound+per=week, I will=have to eat less than 1670 calories per day.
(140 x 15) + (20 x 3.5) – 500 = 1670 calories per day

From the equation, how many calories you can consume per day is dependent on how much exercise you do. The more physical activities you perform, the more calories you will need. The less exercise you do, the less you can eat in order to lose one pound per week. Budget your allotted calories through out the day so you don’t overeat. When you know you have eaten too much, do more exercise to balance the equation.
