Danger: 4 Carcinogens Products At Your Own Home

Carcinogens Products Home

We expose ourselves every day to potentially toxic substances that represent a real health hazard, without even realizing it. The products we use and believe to be healthy are not always. Their lists of ingredients contain hazardous substances, even carcinogens, which are rarely deciphered.

Here are the 4 products that you definitely have at home and that can increase your risk of cancer:

1 - Talc Johnson's Baby Powder

This baby powder, used for decades by all families around the world, is not as healthy as it looks. Indeed, this product could increase the risk of ovarian cancer.

Different scientific research shows that talc, mainly composed of magnesium and silica, contains traces of asbestos. It is a toxic substance that can cause several types of cancer (lungs and ovaries in particular).

Talc is, for many women, an indispensable product for intimate hygiene, as it reduces moisture and prevents unpleasant odors. However, its use on the genitals can lead to cancer of the ovaries, and its inhalation may cause lung cancer.

2 - Covergirl Foundation

To have a clear and unified complexion, women use a variety of cosmetic products with "miraculous powers," including foundations. These products bring remarkable results, but are not without danger to health. Indeed, foundations, like several other cosmetic products, contain high concentrations of chemicals that are potentially carcinogenic.

The foundation of the Cover Girl brand, in particular, contains many toxic substances, namely:

Triethanolamine, a chemical compound used in several cosmetic products and which has a strong allergenicity. Being an amine, this product can also lead to the formation of nitrosamines, following the interaction of this compound with nitrites. Nitrosamines have been classified as a "probable carcinogen" by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).

Lanolin is a fat obtained from sheep's wool. This substance is classified as an allergen and may also contain traces of pesticides. A study published in 2012 in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry showed that lanolin contained residues of different pesticides. The latter are potentially carcinogenic.

Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) is a chemical substance used in agri-food and cosmetics for its antioxidant effect (prevents the oxidation of oils and fats). This compound, however, can have carcinogenic effects on humans, as pointed out by the National Institute of Health in the United States. BHA may also cause allergic skin reactions.

3 - Crest Toothpaste

Indispensable in all households, toothpaste is an essential to have good oral hygiene. However, this product supposed to get rid of bacteria and give us a fresh breath can also increase the risk of cancer. Indeed, Crest brand toothpaste contains toxic ingredients such as:

Brilliant Blue FCF, a colorant found in many food products such as confectionery. This chemical compound presents a real health hazard, as it can cause cancer and cause allergic reactions and hyperactivity.

Saccharin is an artificial sweetener that has been associated with increased risk of bladder cancer.

3 - Ajax Cleaner

Household products are everywhere. But if they are highly prized for their cleansing power, they can however harm health. They concentrate many chemicals deemed carcinogenic.

The Ajax cleaner, one of the best known in the market, is no exception. This product contains a substance known as Crystalline Silica (not listed in the Ingredient List), classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). This can cause lung cancer and cause irritation of the skin and eyes.
