This Bath Removes Toxins From The Body, Improves Muscle And Nerve Function, Reduces Inflammation And Improves Blood Flow

Epsom salt has been used by different cultures for hundreds of years because of its many beneficial properties and multiple uses. Moreover, Epsom salt baths are a detoxification technique that has remarkable health benefits. Zoom on this detox practice.

Epsom salt is named after the bitter salt sources found at Epsom in Surrey, England. It is distinguished from other traditional salts by the fact that it is a natural mineral composed of magnesium and sulphate, two minerals with powerful health virtues that help to improve detoxifying capacities of the body.

How does an Epsom salt bath work?

The skin is a highly porous membrane that absorbs minerals daily and eliminates toxins. Knowing that magnesium and sulphate are easily absorbed by it, this allows them to quickly join the bloodstream. Thus, the use of a powerful mineral base, such as Epsom salt, in a warm bath water environment creates a process called reverse osmosis that promotes the elimination of salt and harmful toxins from the body and allows magnesium and sulfates to enter.

The first plays an essential role in more than 325 enzymes, helps improve muscle and nerve function, reduces inflammation and improves blood flow and oxygenation throughout the body. As for the latter, they are essential elements to preserve the health of the joints, the skin and the nervous tissue.

The Epsom salt bath increases the body's magnesium and sulfate levels, helping to eliminate toxins and build key protein molecules in brain tissue and joints. In addition, it has been shown that regular Epsom salt baths can relieve the symptoms of many health problems including athlete's foot, gout, nail fungus, sprains, bruises and muscle pain. It is also recommended that people suffering from chronic diseases or pain regularly take Epsom baths to detoxify and fight inflammation while balancing their mineral and sulfur levels.

How to take an Epsom salt bath?

The first step is to book 40 minutes of your time for this bath because you need about 20 minutes to remove toxins and another 20 minutes so your body absorbs the minerals in the bath water.

Fill your bathtub with warm water, preferably filtered to limit your exposure to heavy metals and other harmful toxins, then add the Epsom salt, as follows:
  • For children under 28 kg: ½ cup salt for a standard sized bathtub,
  • For people between 28 and 46 kg: 1 cup of salt for a bath of standard size,
  • For people between 46 and 68 kg: 1.5 cups of salt for a standard size bathtub,
  • For people between 68 and 90 kg: 2 cups of salt for a bath of standard size,
  • For each additional 22 kg, add ½ cup of salt.

Tips to boost the effectiveness of the Epsom salt bath

Adding half a cup of olive oil to your bath is also beneficial for the skin, because its polyphenols quickly penetrate and offer you an additional antioxidant action. Adding ginger or Cayenne can increase your body temperature, which will help you sweat more and evacuate more toxins. You can add 1 tablespoon or 2 to stimulate sweating, but also to boost the detoxification process, given their high antioxidant content.

Recommendations:

Do not use soap with an Epsom salt bath, as it will interfere with the action of minerals and the detoxification process. Try to rest for one or two hours after bathing, unless you have arthritic joints. In this case, it is best to stay active as much as possible to avoid congestion of your joints.

Warnings :

It is contraindicated to take Epsom salt baths in case of pregnancy, dehydration, open wounds or burns on the skin. People with cardiovascular disease should always consult their doctor before taking an Epsom salt bath.
