Put These Mosquito Jars Around Your House And You Will Not See Mosquitoes All Summer Long

The summer season is often synonymous with beach, swimming, barbecue and relaxing with family and friends in the open air. But it is without counting on the untimely presence of mosquitoes that particularly like heat and humidity and take pleasure in pricking us! Another factor attracts mosquitoes to us: our body heat. Indeed, the combination of what the human body emits strongly attracts mosquitoes. Thus, they are attracted by all the substances released by our skin through perspiration.

The molecules contained in the essential oil of lemongrass disturb the nervous system of insects that prefer to move away. These same molecules that act as a repellent will also be very useful in soothing the itching and inflammation caused by the bite. 

The mosquito, when it stings us, injects us an anticoagulant molecule, which allows it to suck the blood as it wants. It is this that causes the formation of edema and itching, because our immune system sends white blood cells to fight against the invader. The lemon scent that emanates from the essential oil strongly repels mosquitoes, especially if we put a few drops of lemongrass essential oil on his clothes which is also particularly effective by atmospheric diffusion.

Citrus fruits

Mosquitoes do not like lemon odors, so we must favor plants with citrus flavors to repel the unwanted. The lemon and orange peels when gently rubbed on the skin in summer, also make mosquitoes flee.

Natural mosquito jars

The combination of essential oils and citrus is a combination for the least effective to repel mosquitoes. Here is what you will need to prepare the natural repellent based on essential oils and citrus:
  • 2 garden pots
  • 10 drops of lemon eucalyptus essential oil
  • 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil
  • A lemon, sliced
  • A lime, sliced
  • 4 sprigs of rosemary
  • Floating candles

Place equal amounts of lemon and lime slices in each jar and add 2 sprigs of rosemary. Then fill the pot with water and add 10 drops of essential oils. Finally, drop a floating candle and light it there.

These jars to be placed in all outdoor spaces, verandas and airy rooms such as terraces and balconies are a great way to repel mosquitoes in a natural way.

First and foremost, to avoid getting stung, it is important to start eliminating all the stagnant water sources in your home and garden, such as saucers under flowerpots and water from gutters that may serve of larval houses.
