Must Read : The Beard Can Contain As Many Bacteria And Faeces As Dirty Toilets

Adopted by Hollywood stars and great football players, the beard is a real male beauty accessory, it highlights the features of the face, and gives more charm and elegance to the wearer. But what many people do not know is that this beard can contain more feces than a toilet bowl. Astonishing, is not it?

In prehistoric times, men wore a beard to protect their faces from cold, sun, sand and dust, and they also allowed them to look more masculine, stronger, and more intimidating.

More than just an ornament, the beard has long been considered a sign of wisdom and virility. Greek heroes and gods like Poseidon, Zeus or Hercules all wore a beard. The pharaohs used a false beard called false beard or "Doua-our" to distinguish themselves from other ordinary people, the latter represented a symbol of power, divine affiliation, and nobility.

In recent years, and with the explosion of fashion hipster, the beard returns in strength and more and more men adopt it; it is more and more furnished and long. According to a survey conducted in 2016, half of French men wear a beard, and only 30% of women prefer hairless men. But beware ! This manly and attractive beard can be a real nest for all kinds of bacteria and feces.

After reading the results of this surprising study, you will not see your beard in the same way!

Bearded and especially brave men agreed to give samples of their beards for examination, and the results of the examination showed that their hair contained more feces than the toilet.

According to a study conducted by Action 7 News, in collaboration with John Golobic, a microbiologist working at Quest Diagnostics, an American company specializing in medical diagnostics, beards can contain as many bacteria and faeces as toilets.

Why are beards a hotbed for bacteria?

Indeed, the beard is a very favorable environment for the development of bacteria and germs.

According to Carol Walker, a researcher specializing in trichology, beards are unhygienic because the facial hair is denser than other body hair, and bacteria can grow easily, including staphylococci. She also explained that bearded men are used to triturate their hair with their fingers, it contributes to the transmission of bacteria, added to that food residues stored there, which can break down into bacteria.

In addition, according to a survey conducted by Applied Microbiology and published in the United States National Library of Medicine (PMC), the bacterium of the beard can be transmitted directly to the mouth but also to other people in contact with a man bearded.

How to maintain your beard, and protect yourself from bacteria:
