When we get sick, we have no choice but to rely on our doctor to prescribe a treatment appropriate to our state of health. However, there are cases where some doctors do not respect this noble profession by resorting to unethical practices. Such was the case of Fata, a doctor oncologist, who confessed to intentionally diagnosing cancers to healthy patients to make more profit.

The essential role of physicians in society
Physicians play a leading role in our lives. They heal us when we are hurt or when we get sick, and comfort us when we are afraid.

Doctors save our lives
This is usually the case during an emergency procedure or when they succeed in curing us of a serious illness.

Obviously, not all diseases can be completely cured. Nevertheless, with the effort of doctors, medications and therapies, the patient's life span can be extended considerably. Although this period varies from case to case, the efforts made for this cause are commendable.

Doctors improve the quality of life
Although some diseases do not threaten the patient's life, it is not pleasant to live with pains all the life. The effort of doctors helps to reduce these discomforts.

Unfortunately, some doctors do not respect this very noble and respected profession around the world. As is the case of this doctor who confessed to diagnosing cancers in healthy people.

Farid Fata, a Michigan-based oncologist, admitted to intentionally diagnosing cancers in healthy people to make money. He also admitted to pushing people to chemotherapy just to make more money.

Dr. Fata's patients were shocked after hearing his confession. They would never have thought that the doctor would play with their feelings and would diagnose them with an illness they never had. They were similarly surprised by the audacity of the doctor who prescribed chemotherapy and other drugs to make money. He received $ 62 million (or just over $ 54 million) from Medicare, the health insurance system that is managed by the US federal government.

Dr. Fata was arrested in 2013 for his offense and the federal government seized a total of $ 13 million in total assets. In addition, the US Attorney's Office has no concrete numbers on the exact number of patients who died from Fata treatment.

"Many of these doctors are like businessmen without scruples and without conscience. The only difference is that they have your health and confidence in their hands. A very dangerous combination when money is involved. Said Dr. Sayed Mohammed.

Very frustrating testimonials
Sydney Zaremba's mother died under Dr. Fata's treatment in 2011. She was 87 years old and diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. "He killed my mother," said Zaremba, "she had a treatable illness, but by the time he was done with her, she was taking 16 meds," she adds.

On the other hand, Teddy Howard, 56, was also a victim of Fata, and said the man destroyed his life. Howard was diagnosed by Fata as having a rare blood disorder. He received 44 chemotherapy treatments in 18 months.

Moreover, Ellen Piligian's father died in 2012, abused by Fata, who administered powerful chemotherapy and toxic drugs.

"My father could have had a better quality of life in the last two years," she said.

The case of this doctor who has no respect for human life is quite rare but it remains a case too much because it is the health of people that is not a question of goods or money. Although he was sentenced to 45 years in prison, there were several deaths and several broken lives because of him. Fortunately, not all doctors are the same. They take seriously their commitment to their sermon to do everything possible to treat and relieve a patient.
