A Doctor Discovered A Vaccine That Protects Against Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is transmitted by the bite of an infected blacklegged tick, commonly known as the "deer tick" or "deer tick". The treatment of this disease is normally based on antibiotics and can extend over a long period. However, prevention is always better than cure, and this doctor claims to have found the right solution to protect against Lyme disease effectively!

Lyme disease
Lyme disease is caused by four major bacterial species: Borrelia burgdorferi, Borrelia mayonii, Borrelia afzelii and Borrelia garinii. Borrelia burgdorferi and Borrelia mayonii cause Lyme disease in the United States, while Borrelia afzelii and Borrelia garinii are the leading causes of Lyme disease in Europe and Asia. Moreover, 27 000 cases of Lyme disease are reported each year in France and their number is increasing.

You are more likely to get Lyme disease if you live or spend time in grassy and heavily wooded areas where the ticks that carry the disease thrive. It is important to take precautions in areas where ticks are prevalent.

The signs and symptoms of Lyme disease vary and usually appear in stages.

Signs and symptoms

A small red bump often appears on the spot of a tick bite and disappears in a few days. This is normal after a tick bite and does not indicate Lyme disease.

However, these signs and symptoms may occur within one month after infection:

Rash: From 3 to 30 days after an infected tick bite, a red area may appear. The rash develops slowly over the course of the day and can reach 30 cm. Some people develop this rash in many places in their body.

Flu-like symptoms: Fever, chills, fatigue, body aches and headaches may accompany the rash.

In the absence of treatment, new signs and symptoms of Lyme disease infection may appear in the following weeks or months. These include:

The rash appears in other areas of the body.

Serious pain and swelling of the joints is particularly likely to affect the knees, but the pain can change from one joint to another.

Weeks or even months of infection, you could develop inflammation of the membranes surrounding your brain (meningitis), temporary paralysis of one side of the face, numbness or weakness of the limbs and impaired muscle movements.

Signs and symptoms caused by Borrelia mayonii may also include nausea and vomiting.

What is this cure for protecting against Lyme disease?

Recently, there has been new progress that could provide 100% protection against Lyme disease.

Scientists at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Boston, have made tremendous progress in developing drugs in the form of a seasonal vaccine to prevent Lyme disease, called Lyme pre-exposing prophy-laxis or Lyme prep.

According to Dr. Mark Klempner, Executive Vice Chancellor of Massbiologics and Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Faculty of Medicine, along with other researchers, he has perfected the anti-body that prevents the transmission of Lyme disease . But it is not a vaccine because the immune system produces a multitude of antibodies.

Dr. Mark Klempner said that during their study, they had isolated a single human antibody, so that when a tick stings, this antibody kills the bacteria before Lyme disease can be transmitted. A single injection of the antibody in the spring could last all fall, when ticks are the most active.

The researchers took ticks that carry the bacteria, put them on a small rodent, and gave them that antibody. The latter was 100% effective in preventing the transmission of the disease. So they think that in a person, a comparable amount of antibodies will have a large margin of protection against Lyme disease.

This injection to prevent Lyme disease has virtually no adverse side effects, but several trials are still needed. Moreover, Dr. Klempner said the next tests required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) could take another 2-3 years.

This discovery opens the door to new perspectives on the prevention of Lyme disease, which is very promising for the future! Do not hesitate to share this good news!
