The study published in the journal Stroke focused on the link between soda consumption and the risk of stroke or dementia. Over 2000 people over the age of 45 have been evaluated for stroke risk and more than 1000 people over the age of 60 have been evaluated for dementia risk.

Subjects who consumed at least one can of light drink per day were 2.96 times more likely to have ischemic stroke and 2.89 times more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease than those who drank less than one. per week ; after controlling for age, sex, education, caloric intake, smoking, and physical activity levels, a consistent and high consumption of sugar-free soft drinks was associated with a high risk of dementia , to develop Alzheimer's disease and stroke.

The study published in Alzheimer's & Dementia, for its part, showed a significant link between the consumption of soft drinks and Alzheimer's disease; a higher intake of sugary drinks was undeniably associated transversally with the markers of preclinical Alzheimer's disease.

The two studies therefore highlight an undeniable link between light beverage consumption and brain atrophy or even to develop a cerebrovascular accident as well as dementia and Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia.

Another study conducted by the University of Miami corroborates the two studies mentioned above. In fact, whether soft drinks are sweetened or sweetened, both categories have a high percentage of risk of vascular disorders in people who consume them daily rather than those who consume very little, if any at all.
