A Mother Desperately Wants A Heart Transplant For Her Dying Little Girl, Send Her Prayers And Love

A child is a blessing for parents. His laugh, his angelic face is comforting and fills your heart with love and joy. Nevertheless, being a parent is also going through difficult times, especially when your child's life is in danger and the desire to to protect is mixed with pitiless impotence. This story relayed by our colleagues in the western newspaper, tells the hard fight of a mother to find a transplant to her dying daughter.

Christmas is the time of miracles and the time of all hopes. In any case, this is what Jennifer Shane, Aurora's mother "Rori" Shane, hopes. The girl with a congenital malformation needs a heart transplant urgently.

What is an organ transplant?

The human body being the most complex machine that is, it is thus constituted of many active parts called organs. These function complementarily in our body, but each organ has a specific function, such as pumping, cleaning our blood or helping us breathe.

Nevertheless, sometimes our organs do not work properly due to an illness or malformation with which we can be born. When this happens, doctors can decide if it is possible to replace the organ with another one in good health.

Thus, the lungs, heart, kidneys, liver and intestines can come from a living or dead third party. For example, a living donor may donate a kidney or part of its liver. Similarly, a deceased person can share them if the deceased and / or his family generously agree to donate the organs in order to help others live.

The subject is more delicate when it comes to a child. The size of the body and the organ being taken into account when pairing the donors with the recipients. Infants often receive donations from other young children, but pediatric donation is different from adult donation. When a potential donor is under the age of 18, the law states that the parent or legal guardian must authorize the donation. However, the loss of a child is always tragic, the option of organ donation is therefore difficult for parents, who are the only decision makers in this case.

Rori Shane, waiting for an organ that can save his life
Rori Shane was born in July 2017 with a heart defect. For her, there is unfortunately no other cure than to receive the heart of another child, but it is difficult for the family to find a donor with such a small heart.

Her mother has created a Facebook page called Hope for Rori to raise awareness of her cause, she explains: "Because of its size, it has not received many offers. The blood group and the weight are key factors, a donor weighing between 20 and 50 kilos is therefore necessary and his blood group is A + ".

Recognizing that sharing on social media is a long-term project, Jennifer Shane does not lose hope and prays for the right person to see her call for help. She posted a poignant message on social networks: "Sharing this on social media is a long project but there have been cases where it has worked. After living almost two years in the hospital with Rori, I heard about these stories. I have to tell the tragic story of my daughter to complete strangers, which is not easy, but if it can help her to receive a heart, I will do it again millions of times. So, if someone reads this message and can put us in touch with someone who can help, please let us know. Thank you for your concern- Jennifer (Rori's mom) ".

The family lives in Louisville, Kentucky, and Rori is at Norton Children's Hospital. Unfortunately, time is running out, Rori is on the waiting list for a transplant for more than 200 days.

The family does not despair and pray for a miracle, help us by sending all your thoughts and prayers to little Rori and her family.
