Stomach cancer affects nearly 9,000 people every year, making it the fifth most common cancer. About 66% of the patients concerned are men. What are the causes and symptoms of this pathology? What are the means of prevention?

The stomach is a hollow organ located between the esophagus and the duodenum. It participates in digestion through gastric juices. In 9 out of 10 cases, stomach cancer is adenocarcinoma, that is, it develops from the glandular cells on the stomach wall. In addition, 80% of gastric cancers originate from a bacterial infection involving Helicobacter pylori. Present in about 50% of the population, this bacterium is carcinogenic when it spreads in the lining of the stomach and causes the development of stomach cancer in less than 1% of cases.

Other risk factors for gastric cancer are poor diet (usually related to excess salt), smoking, and family history.

What are the symptoms of stomach cancer?

· Stomach pains
· Difficulty digesting
· Loss of appetite
· Anemia
· Tired
· Sensation of discomfort in the abdomen
· Nausea and vomiting
· Bleeding

Stomach cancer develops silently with few symptoms early in the illness. So if you recognize these warning signs, take a health check and consult without delay a specialist in gastroenterology.

What are the means of prevention?

Stop smoking
Smoking is recognized as one of the leading risk factors for stomach cancer. Some studies have even shown that exposure to second-hand smoke also increases risk.

It is therefore strongly recommended to stop smoking. You can go to a smoking cessation center near you or see a doctor for help.

Adopt a healthy diet
Doctors recommend a healthy diet based on natural products. Eat mainly fruits and vegetables from organic farming and ideally seasonal vegetables. Avoid processed foods as much as possible and limit your salt intake. It is also not recommended to consume red meat in large quantities (beef, pork, mutton, goat and cold cuts). It will limit its consumption to 2 times a week.

Limit your alcohol consumption
In 1998, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) proved the causal links between alcohol consumption and cancer in humans. It is therefore strongly advised to reduce or even stop drinking alcohol.

Natural recipe for turmeric, olive oil and black pepper to slow the size of cancer cells

Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant with many benefits. It is particularly known for reducing the size of cancer cells. For better efficiency, we recommend creating your own turmeric-based mixture for daily use.

Be careful, turmeric is not recommended for people with gall bladder disorders. We recommend using it carefully in combination with certain medications as it may influence their effects. Being a powerful blood thinning agent, it is not recommended for pregnant women and is to be avoided in case of operation or treatment with anticoagulant substances. In addition, it is best not to consume it if you are subject to hot flashes because of its warming properties.

Here is a recipe based on turmeric, olive oil and black pepper, ideal for cancer prevention

· A pinch of black pepper
· ½ tablespoon of olive oil
· ½ teaspoon of turmeric

Mix the ingredients in a bowl and add this mixture to your soups, salads or other dishes. Avoid heating this mixture or consume it late in the evening.

Be careful, black pepper is not recommended for ulcers, gastritis or hemorrhoids because it irritates the mucous membranes.
