In its literal definition the word cancer means the presence of abnormal cells that multiply in an irrepressible anarchic way. When cancer is triggered in the breast, cancer cells can remain in that organ or spread out through the blood vessels to become invasive or invasive. It is the most common disease in the world for women and 1 in 9 women will be affected by breast cancer. Webmd sheds light on the symptoms that should not be neglected, which can be revealing and synonymous with the onset of the disease.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women and is the second largest cancer and third in mortality from this disease. And according to Public Health, France ranks 8th compared to the countries of the European Union. However, when this disease is detected early, the chances of recovery are greater.

What is invasive breast cancer?

First, it is important to note that noninvasive breast cancer is formed within the breast lactation ducts. Detected early with mammography, it can be cured quickly but without treatment, it can spread and turn into invasive cancer.

For this purpose, it becomes infiltrative and invade the tissues that are around the lactation channels while remaining inside the breast. However, without treatment, it can spread to other parts of the body causing metastases.

According to Webmd, there are two types of invasive breast cancer:

- Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) which is characterized by the presence of cancerous cells in the milk duct spreading into the breast tissue and can even spread to other organs.

- Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) that starts in the lobules or glands of milk and then spreads. With ILC, women often experience thickening rather than a mass in the chest.

Signs and symptoms of invasive breast cancer

In most cases, breast cancer has no warning signs, but when it develops, certain symptoms will appear, such as:
  • A lump in the breast or armpits or a mass that could be pea-sized
  • A change in the size or shape of the breast and a hardening of the breast
  • A liquid flow at the nipple
  • Redness on the outer skin of the breast or nipple
  • General fatigue that can not be alleviated by sleep or rest.

The risks of breast cancer
At a certain age, women are more likely to contract breast cancer. Indeed, most often it occurs after the age of 50 and after menopause. In addition, genetics and family history also play a major role, not to mention that exposure to radiation or chemicals can also alter genes. Finally, obesity, breast density or the fact of not having children are just as likely to develop breast cancer.

The means of preventing breast cancer
According to Doctissimo, ignoring the hereditary and genetic factor, there are ways to prevent breast cancer.

- Diet is the best prevention of cardiovascular diseases but also breast cancer. The accumulation of fat especially in the belly after menopause, increases the risk of developing this disease.

- Physical activity is just as important. Thirty minutes a day can be enough to reduce the risk of 30 to 40% of developing the disease.
- Reduction of alcohol consumption and hormonal treatments.
- Have your first baby at the age of 25
- Prolongation of breastfeeding up to 6 months.
