Electronic Cigarette Can Cause Life-threatening Diseases, Say Scientists

Smoking kills ! But vaping is not without consequences according to an American study. A statement that sounds the alarm on these unconventional cigarettes marketed under the health label. Professor Theodore Friedman said that e-cigarettes are not as safe as they have been promoted to consumers. More details in this article!

A device that is gaining more and more space in our society to replace the traditional cigarette and thus minimize its health risks. A scourge that also arouses the interest of researchers!

The use of electronic cigarettes can lead to an accumulation of fat in the liver

In relation to smoking, vaping has a significantly reduced level of health and safety risk. However, it is not without negative impact! First it is the electronic batteries that expose the user to a risk of explosion and there is rather the liver that is in danger!

Researchers found that high levels of nicotine in electronic cigarettes caused nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in mice. A discovery that makes the authorities react to the marketing of this type of cigarette especially for young smokers.

"The popularity of e-cigarettes has increased rapidly, in part because of commercials informing them that they are safer than conventional cigarettes. But since excess fat in the liver is likely to be harmful to health, we conclude that e-cigarettes are not as safe as they have been promoted to consumers, "said lead author Theodore C. Friedman, MD , Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine and Professor of Cardio-Metabolic Medicine at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, California.

In the 12-week study, Friedman and his colleagues studied the lack of apolipoprotein E gene appearance in mice, which makes them more likely to develop heart disease and develop liver fat. .

All the mice followed a diet relatively rich in fats and cholesterol. A group of mice was placed in a chamber while exposing it to an electronic cigarette spray, so that the nicotine content in the blood was similar to that of smokers and electronic cigarette users. The second group of mice was exposed to a saline aerosol.

Researchers collected liver samples and examined liver genes affected by electronic cigarettes using a technique called RNA sequence analysis. They found changes in 433 genes associated with liver disease development and progression in mice exposed to the electronic cigarette. The researchers also found that genes related to circadian rhythms (the biological clock) had been modified in mice exposed to the electronic cigarette. Circadian rhythm dysfunction is known to accelerate the development of liver disease, including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.

The findings of the study would help federal and state regulators, as well as policy makers, take action against the increased use of e-cigarettes.

In another US study conducted by researchers at San Francisco University showed that the daily use of electronic cigarettes doubled the risk of heart attack.

The debate on the safety of vaping is still ongoing, until you think instead to start a strategy to stop smoking completely, it's better for your health!
