We usually rush to drink water only when we are thirsty, after a meal or after eating a spicy dish. Some people even choose to hydrate themselves with other drinks, such as coffee, tea, soda or fruit juice. But did you know exactly when you should drink water? The best time is the morning after waking up directly.

Water is sodium-free and caffeine-free, making it the perfect way to hydrate the body without negative effects, but more, with a lot of benefits for it. It should therefore drink 0.52 Gallons of water per day, depending on the morphology of each, this amount also includes liquids such as tea, juice or coffee. Here are the benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach in the morning.

1. Reduces the acidity of the stomach
When you have heartburn, it means that there is a high level of acidity in the stomach and that the action of reflux causes heartburn or gastric reflux. Acid is essential for breaking down food, but when acid levels are higher than usual, you risk getting heartburn in the morning. By its neutrality, water reduces the level of acidity in the stomach.

2. Improves stool
Drinking water as early as the first hours of the morning can facilitate intestinal transit. Constipation usually occurs when there is a lack of water in our body. Consuming water helps to break down undigested foods, and helps to eliminate stool more regularly and consequently, waste from the body. In a study published in the European Journal of Nutrition, it has been shown that regular consumption of water would improve stool frequency.

3. Keeps the body hydrated
The recommended six to eight hours of nighttime sleep is a long time without water consumption. According to Rania Batayneh, nutritionist and author of the book "The One One One Diet", says that drinking a glass or two of water upon waking is a good way to rehydrate quickly.

4. Good for the skin
Water is essential for maintaining optimal skin hydration and providing essential nutrients to skin cells. It regenerates the skin tissue and increases its elasticity. This helps to delay the appearance of signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines.

According to a study published in the scientific journal Clinical, Cosmetic, and Investigational Dermatology, higher water intakes in a normal diet have a positive impact on the normal physiology of the skin, and particularly in individuals consuming less water per day.

5. Provides energy to the muscles
Muscle cells are unable to maintain a balance of fluids in the body during exercise and may become dehydrated, leading to muscle fatigue and pain. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, one must drink at least 500 ml of water two hours before training or physical exercise. Liquids should also be drunk during a workout to replace fluids lost during sweating.

6. Stimulates metabolism and makes you lose weight
The essential carbohydrates and proteins you consume daily are metabolized and transported as water throughout the body. According to one study, it has been deduced that water induces thermogenesis and may constitute a treatment to combat overweight. Plus, drinking more water during a diet can help you lose weight fast because the water does not contain calories and drinking it at regular intervals will help keep your stomach full, and so feel satiety for longer, which leads to not eating large amounts of food.

7. Helps eliminate toxins
Every time you urinate, you expel the toxins in liquid form. In this way, you cleanse and detoxify your body, so you will also fight against urinary infections as the bacteria are removed from the body by the urine.

8. Prevents migraines
One of the main reasons people suffer from frequent headaches and migraines is due to lack of water in the body and therefore dehydration. So drinking water at frequent intervals, especially on an empty stomach, can help get rid of headaches naturally.

9. Water is a colon cleanser
Drinking a glass of water on an empty stomach can help remove accumulated toxin deposits in the colon and absorb nutrients faster. This results in a healthier colon and a generally healthy body.
