We Explain How To Make A Fair Fire With A Lemon

Lemon has a purpose that goes beyond beauty care and weight loss projects. If one day you find yourself in a campsite, want to sit around this mythical campfire, and you have no flame you can simply use lemon.

As bizarre as it sounds, it's actually a trick that works! Some tend to use a lighter or matches for their campfire, but this method is not always effective. Your flame will not spread if your wood is wet or if there is wind for example. But with lemon, it gives you a nice flame without much effort.

To light this fire with this method similar to a magic trick, you need:
  • 6 copper nails
  • 6 zinc nails
  • A roll of electric wire covered with rubber
  • Steel wool
  • Flammable material (toilet paper for example)
  • A lemon

Rub the lemon between your hands to soften it, so that you can penetrate the nails easily.

Once soft, place the copper nails on one side of the lemon one by one.

Make a similar line using zinc nails. It must be parallel to the first line, and be careful to leave about two centimeters of space between the two lines. Make sure each zinc nail and copper nail is facing each other.

Cut about 3 inches of electrical wire and wrap one end around the top of the first copper nail and then the other end around the second zinc nail. Then, reattach the second copper nail to the third zinc nail, and so on. You should normally end up with an unconnected copper nail on one side and an unrelated zinc nail on the other.

Now, remove the rubber boot from the ends of a wire and attach it to the only unconnected copper nail and then cut another wire to the single zinc pin that is not connected. The zinc nail will correspond to the "negative" charge and the copper nail to the "positive" charge.

Place your steel wool either near the base of your campfire or on a piece of wood bark. Then place your flammable material on steel wool, toilet paper or paper towels can be very effective.

Place the two "bare" ends of each wire over the steel wool. This should cause the steel wool to start producing heat. The latter should take a more reddish color, so hold the wire against the steel wool until the wood bark dries completely and ignites.

So how does this trick work?

It is clear that a fruit alone could not produce electricity, otherwise it would be pure magic. But if this magic was in every way scientific, even electric? On the surface, the lemon may seem to produce this electric current, but we lean well on the question, the answer is actually in the metals held by the lemon.

To understand this mechanism, it is necessary before entering the operating mode of a battery. Reason for using the terms "positive" and "negative" for metal nails. Thus, each battery has two ends: one that is positive and the other that is negative.

If both ends are connected with a wire, an electrical circuit is created. The electrons cross this wire, which creates electricity. This is due to a reaction inside the battery, but this only occurs if there is a flow of electrons. This is where the lemon enters the scene.

In the demonstration explained above, the zinc nail acts as the negative end of the battery, while the copper nail acts as the positive end. Since copper attracts more electrons than zinc, copper plays the role of positive charge. Lemon provides a conductivity environment that allows electrons to flow continuously through the wires, providing a constant electrical current. Zinc nails and copper nails placed between these two ends increase the flow of electrons.
