Cardio-vascular diseases are a set of disorders related to the heart and blood vessels. They are the leading cause of death worldwide, with four out of five deaths being caused by the effect of a heart attack or stroke. The interesting data in this case is that 80% of these accidents are preventable, either by means of a lifestyle or by an early consultation and an appropriate diet. Foods like garlic and lemon can protect you, especially for heart block.

Heart block is a dysfunction of the heart rhythm. Specifically, it is a slowing down or interruption of the electrical signal between the atria of the heart and its ventricles. This signal is important because it causes the contraction of the heart muscle and therefore the heartbeat.A normal heart rate is 60 beats per minute, below that there is a case of bradycardia.

Heart block has an equal chance of developing in an adult as well as in a child. There are cases of babies born with this disorder. There are three levels of heart block:

First degree heart block: it is a mild form that does not necessarily have symptoms. The electrical signals are certainly slow, but they reach the ventricles.

Second-degree heart block: It is characterized by a very slow heart rate with risks of irregularity. The signals do not reach the ventricles completely, with the possibility of interrupting certain heartbeats.

Third degree heart block: This represents the most severe form of this block since none of the electrical signals reaches the ventricles. A natural backup system can take over the ventricles. Nevertheless, the heart rate is always longer and more irregular than normal.

As mentioned above, the first degree does not necessarily have any symptoms. On the other hand, second and third degree can cause dizziness, fatigue, fainting, shortness of breath and chest pain.

Lemon
Lemon is known for its therapeutic effects when it comes to pathologies related to the heart. There is a good reason for this: its high concentration of vitamin C and antioxidants that allow optimal functioning of your heart system. Studies have shown that eating vitamin C fortified foods will help protect you against cardiovascular disease and stroke.

This citrus is also rich in flavonoids, which can reduce the main risk factors for cardiovascular diseases such as obesity. Lemon is also important for its fiber content, which has the ability to stabilize the level of cholesterol in the blood.

Garlic
Garlic is best known for its culinary uses. But what we do not know is that it is also a good food for cardiovascular health. A study has shown that garlic is a great help to fight against high blood pressure, which is one of the leading risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. According to The Journal of Nutrition, garlic would also protect you against cholesterol, and by the same to prevent the occurrence of diseases related to lipid deposits in the blood.

Moreover, in a study of 112 patients with hyperlipidemia, combined garlic and lemon have been shown to have a favorable effect on cholesterol levels, which would have considerably decreased. In addition, this preparation would also have reduced blood pressure, thereby reducing cardiovascular risk factors.
