Hot Water Challenge

Nowadays, thanks to the Internet, young and old can share realities or ideas ranging from the most ingenious to the most stupid. Although there are restrictions on the use of this revolutionary tool for children and teenagers, many crazy challenges have gone around the web, killing many people around the world. In the United States, an 11-year-old boy woke up with severe burns on his body because of the "Hot Water Challenge". Madness or act of bad faith? You will learn more about this story told by the newspaper Metro.

After many challenges, such as the challenge of the blue whale or the Momo challenge, often considered absurd, it is the turn of the "Hot Water Challenge" to shock users.

What is the "Hot Water Challenge"? :
Inspired by the "Ice Bucket Challenge", whose goal was to turn cold water or ice over a loved one by surprise and film it, the challenge of boiling water is to use the ice bucket boiling water instead of iced water.

Completely unaware of the consequences of this challenge, several teenagers were hospitalized after having tried the experiment. Indeed, this challenge can be fatal because of the gravity of the burns.

However, despite the many warnings from doctors, this game has taken on a viral scale, sometimes involving groups of friends who enjoy receiving boiling water on the skin or in the most extreme cases to drink it. In fact, like many young people who have fallen in love with this trend, an 11-year-old boy suffered dreadful boiling injuries while spending a pajama party with his friends.

A terrible pain
The young Billy Oliver suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns that led him to the Cincinnati Burn Center for proper care. "I was stunned when I first heard about what had happened," said Dr. Susan Pollack, pediatrician at the Kentucky Children's Hospital at the WYMT regional newspaper, adding, "I I've been aware of many stupid things, but deciding to burn another person is deciding to voluntarily inflict incredible pain, and I refuse to believe that this is the intention of this challenge.

According to the boy's testimony, the boy was sprinkled with boiling water by his friends, because he went to bed before them and thus distorted them.

Billy told WYMT: "On a scale of 0 to 10, the pain had reached an intensity of 10". The boy had already heard about the challenge and knew that it consisted of drinking boiling water or spilling it on others.

This is not an isolated case:
Informed of what had happened to her little brother, Billy's sister Emily, decided to share on Facebook the clip of terrible burns of the boy.

Shocked by this situation, Emily posted: "All parents should inform their children of the excesses of this dangerous game, because of which my brother must undergo surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. "

Namely, the mother of Billy's burn manager, Angela Guth, has been accused by the services concerned for failing to assist anyone in danger. Billy was at his home at the time, and although it was his duty to help the boy, he did not receive any medical care.

Unfortunately, many cases like Billy's have been discovered by the health services. In Florida, an 8-year-old girl died from complications after drinking boiling water.
