How To Cure Gingivitis With Coconut Oil, Baking Soda And Lemons

What are the natural remedies for treating gingivitis?

 1- Turmeric
Through a study, it has been proven that turmeric is an effective remedy for treating gingivitis. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, it is very effective and without any undesirable effects. It can in particular be compared to the effect of chlorhexidine (a broad-spectrum antiseptic used, especially in oral treatments in the form of mouthwashes).

To prepare, mix ½ teaspoon of turmeric in a glass of warm water and make a mouthwash 2 times a day. To prevent turmeric from getting on your teeth, wait a few minutes after the mouthwash and rinse your teeth with clear water.

2- Coconut oil
Extracted from the coconut meat, the coconut oil is edible. It contains a high amount of lauric acid. The latter is known to suppress bad bacteria, fight gum disease and reduce plaque. A study by the Journal of the International Society of Preventive & Community Dentistry has shown that coconut oil is as potent an antibacterial agent as chlorhexidine. Applied directly to your gums, it will act to eliminate the bacteria causing inflammation.

3- Baking Soda
One of the most common causes of gingivitis is oral acidity. It promotes the oral lesion, and thus the penetration of bacteria in the gums. In addition to being a mild natural whitener, baking soda is an alkalizing agent. Indeed, it reduces the oral acidity that can cause infections and inflammations.

Recipe: 1 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water at room temperature.

Make mouthwashes once a day to apply a maximum of 2 times a week.

4- The lemon
Fruit of the citrus family, and king of vitamin C, lemon is a must of our cuisines and its virtues are inexhaustible. In addition, its vitamin C content, would make a powerful anti-inflammatory as highlighted in this study.

To fight your gingivitis, mix the juice of half a lemon with a glass of warm water. Then make a mouthwash, repeat the treatment twice a day.

Like any natural treatment, these remedies will not replace a treatment prescribed by your doctor. That said, they can accompany and complete it.

Warnings :
Because of its abrasive properties, it is advisable not to use baking soda regularly so as not to damage the teeth.

Frequent use of lemon can weaken tooth enamel.
