A Man Goes Blind After Playing On His Phone All Night

Life always surprises us with problems that arise when we least expect it. When these unexpected situations attack our health, we realize that everything else does not matter. In an article relayed by the Daily Mail, a man lost his sight after spending the night playing on his mobile phone.

As we face a frenetic pace of life where everyone is boosted by the satisfaction of their immediate pleasures and the expansion of their financial capital, life reminds us to allow us to open our eyes to our real priorities. Malfunctions or illnesses can occur in order to make us aware of the importance of our health.

A Man Goes Blind After Playing On His Phone All Night

He loses his sight after playing all night on his phone

This sordid story took place in Shenzhen, China. A man spent the evening playing on his cell phone without knowing what would happen the next day. Thus, he was in his room, with the lights off, with the only source of lighting the screen of his mobile device. After playing for several hours, the man falls asleep at dawn. When he wakes up some time later, he realizes that he sees only one eye. Panicking, he rushes to the hospital to try to understand the reasons for this partial blindness. When examining the patient, the doctors determined that he was suffering from bleeding from his left eye.

Indeed, the man had suffered a rupture of the retinal vessels, causing a loss of sight. According to doctors, this vision disorder can occur after a significant physical effort. But in reality, the man had absolutely no awareness of the risk he was taking playing on his phone in the dark. Thus, he would have even considered replaying the next morning, if he had not suffered this visual disturbance.

Called Valsalva retinopathy, this condition can cause blurred vision or partial or total blindness. Nevertheless, the man could recover sight a month after a laser intervention.

Another case of Valsalva retinopathy
This little-known condition also affected a 32-year-old Briton in 2010. In fact, the man made a series of pumps in the pear position and lost his sight about six hours later. As a result, he was rushed to hospital while he could not see his right eye. For example, doctors reported that several vessels in the retina were affected, resulting in bleeding. The medical staff explained that the man's intense exertion caused pressure on the eye vessels and caused them to rupture.

Retinopathy: A condition that can cause a sudden loss of sight

According to scientists, Valsalva retinopathy is a rare disease caused by increased pressure in the blood vessels throughout the body. In fact, no prevalence of the disease has been established since it can affect healthy individuals. Nevertheless, it was agreed that this ocular disorder caused rupture of the ocular vessels leading to hemorrhage in the retina. In addition, it appears that this pathology occurs as a result of trauma, physical exertion or intense stress. Sometimes Valsalva's retinopathy may reoffend a few weeks or even years later. Thus, it is advisable for the person who has already had this affection not to confront the sources of stress that caused it the first time.
