Dental plaque:

Plaque consists of bacteria that produce acids that attack the tooth enamel and can damage the gums. It develops when food residues and bacteria are not effectively removed by regular brushing. It thus forms a transparent deposit in light yellow on the teeth. This could be the main cause of many oral hygiene problems.

Tartar:

Tartar results from a process of calcification of dental plaque. It can appear on the teeth or under the gums when the dental plaque is not quickly treated. It becomes difficult to get rid of it and we often use a specialist to eliminate it.

Yellow teeth:

Teeth often turn yellow after contact with a number of products. The dyes of these products are thus fixed on the surface of the teeth and alter their natural color. However, there are people who are born with naturally yellow teeth, this is called intrinsic staining unlike extrinsic staining, due to external factors.

Several factors are at the origin of the yellowing of the teeth, we can quote: the tobacco, some medicines in particular the antidepressants, the antihistamines, and the drugs against the hypertension, the tea, the coffee, the licorice, the wine, the sodas , red fruits. We can add to this the heredity factor and aging.

Thus, we often use dental care, performed by a specialist to overcome this inconvenience. However, we can use homemade preparations to eliminate them and the most useful and most popular tool is baking soda but also hydrogen peroxide.

Baking soda has many therapeutic virtues especially for oral problems, such as canker sores, cavities, yellowing teeth and bad breath.

Hydrogen peroxide, also called "hydrogen peroxide", is an acid that has antiseptic properties along with a whitening effect. By the way, a lot of mouthwashes contain a little hydrogen peroxide.

So, for these remedies, we will need:
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide
  • Antiseptic mouthwash
  • A little warm water
  • Dental floss
  • A toothbrush

To fight plaque, tartar and yellowing of teeth, follow these 4 steps:

1. In a cup, mix half a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of baking soda. Use lukewarm water to wet the toothbrush and soak it in the mixture. Rub your teeth with this preparation for 5 minutes and spit.

2. In a bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide with half a cup of warm water. Gargle your mouth with this mixture. Do it for a minute, then spit. Rinse your mouth with cold water.

3. Use a toothpick to scrub yellow tartar. However, keep in mind that you should not scratch the gums so as not to irritate them.

4. Use an antiseptic mouthwash to rinse your mouth. You can do it every other day. Mouthwash, used before or after brushing, may limit scale deposits.

Extra tips for a bright smile
  • Use dental floss regularly.
  • Use orange peels at bedtime to rub your teeth without rinsing your mouth. The orange peel acts as an antibacterial agent.
  • Consume spicy foods that stimulate the salivary gland. This allows you to clean your mouth naturally.
  • Use a soft brush to avoid damaging your gums. Brushing must be done vertically.

Some foods can help you have better dental hygiene:
  • Swiss cheese and cheddar can neutralize the acids that create the plate. This happens if you eat the cheese before meals. In aged cheese, there is an ingredient that acts as a protective barrier.
  • Tomatoes and strawberries are rich in vitamin C. Put these fruits on your teeth and let them rest for about 5 minutes. This will soften the scale. After that, rinse your mouth with baking soda and lukewarm water. You can use other foods that contain a large amount of vitamin C such as papaya, berries, oranges, lemons, etc.

Warnings
