This Man Writes A Beautiful Love Letter For His Curvy Wife

With the influence of advertising and the media, women of all ages are driven to have a specific, pre-established image. Thus, we find many women trying to follow these standards imposed by society and the media. Some people do not accept this phenomenon, as this man who wished to express all his love for his curvy wife and criticizing the standards of society.

The impact of modern beauty standards
Society imposes on us an image that is often far from ours and our interactions with our personal development. This image would be perceived by others as a reflection of our personal worth. It is therefore not surprising that the way in which society perceives us affects us on many levels.

The media in particular has become more and more a platform that reinforces cultural beliefs and projects strong points of view on how we should look at ourselves, because we, as individuals, validate and perpetuate these beliefs without the knowledge.

The more we look at the perfect images of others and seek to find those same idealized characteristics in ourselves and do not find them, the more we feel bad. It is a cycle that generates discontent.

With such a societal look, it's easy to see how the emphasis on our appearance can drag many people into the dark side, namely the negative image of the body.

The greater our dissatisfaction with how we compare ourselves against societal or media standards, the more negative our body image is and the greater the risk of body weight control. This has the following consequences:
  • Extreme diet
  • Extreme exercise compulsion
  • Eating disorders
  • Plastic surgery to excess or useless
  • Using steroids for muscle building
Faced with all these negative impacts of modern standards of beauty, a man wanted to express all his love for his generous wife by challenging these societal norms.

Love letter for a round woman
Robbie Tripp, a 26-year-old author and activist, wrote a letter to his lavish wife on Instagram. A way for him to declare his love for his wife and to criticize those who have perpetuated very specific standards of beauty.

He wrote her the following letter:

|| I love this woman and her curvy body. As a teenager, I was often teased by my friends for my attraction to girls on the thicker side, ones who were shorter and curvier, girls that the average (basic) bro might refer to as "chubby" or even "fat." Then, as I became a man and started to educate myself on issues such as feminism and how the media marginalizes women by portraying a very narrow and very specific standard of beauty (thin, tall, lean) I realized how many men have bought into that lie. For me, there is nothing sexier than this woman right here: thick thighs, big booty, cute little side roll, etc. Her shape and size won't be the one featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan but it's the one featured in my life and in my heart. There's nothing sexier to me than a woman who is both curvy and confident; this gorgeous girl I married fills out every inch of her jeans and is still the most beautiful one in the room. Guys, rethink what society has told you that you should desire. A real woman is not a porn star or a bikini mannequin or a movie character. She's real. She has beautiful stretch marks on her hips and cute little dimples on her booty. Girls, don't ever fool yourself by thinking you have to fit a certain mold to be loved and appreciated. There is a guy out there who is going to celebrate you for exactly who you are, someone who will love you like I love my Sarah. || photo cred: @kaileehjudd

Thousands of people commented on Robbie's message, which received over 44,000 likes on Instagram.

Sarah Tripp, 25-year-old Robbie's wife, said this is not unusual for Robbie. She said he always makes her feel very much loved and appreciated.

As a positive fashion blogger for the body, Sarah's goal is to help other round women learn to love their bodies. She said she is lucky to have a husband who loves every inch of his body since the day they met.

Robbie also posted a post later to say he was happy to see men around the world tag their girlfriend / wife and tell them how much they love their generous body.

It is important to accept oneself and accept one's body without devaluing oneself. What do you think of Robbie's message? Is it relevant?
