Breed Of Your Dog Reveals Your True Personality

Are some people attracted only by certain types of dogs? According to a study presented at a conference of the British Psychological Society and relayed by our colleagues from the Independent, the answer is yes. Dogs reflect the personality of their masters.

The authors of the study, Jo Fearon and Lance Workman, believe that certain types of personality may be subconsciously attracted to certain breeds of dogs. During their study, researchers asked 1000 dog owners to complete a questionnaire that assessed five personality traits: lovemaking, extroversion, awareness, emotional stability, and openness. They also asked each person what breed of dog she owned. After analyzing the data, they determined that people with certain personality traits were more likely to own certain breeds of dogs.

They also divided the dog breeds into seven groups:

- Hunting dogs (Spaniel, English pointer, Weimaraner, Golden Retriever ...)
- Greyhounds (Beagle, Dachshund, Greyhound, Rhodesian Ridgeback ...)
- Working dogs (boxer, Great Dane, Doberman, Rottweiler ...)
- Toy dogs (Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Pug, Dwarf Spitz, Shar-peï ...)
- Utility dogs (dalmatian, bulldog, poodle, schnauzer ...)
- Pastoral dogs (German Shepherd, Collie, Australian Cattle Dog, Welsh Corgi Pembroke ...)

Among the discoveries: pastoral and commercial breeds were often owned by people with a high level of extroversion, toy dogs belonged to pleasant and conscientious people, while hunting dog owners were emotionally stable.
