These experts, representing 12 stakeholder organizations used the RAND / UCLA Relevance Method (which is a consensus model) to be able to more or less accurately define the following recommendations on adequate sleep times:
  • Baby from 0 to 3 months: 14 to 17 hours a day
  • Baby from 4 to 11 months: 12 to 15 hours
  • Children from 1 to 2 years: 11 to 14 hours
  • Children from 3 to 5 years old: 10 to 13 hours
  • Children from 6 to 13 years old: 9 to 11 hours
  • Teenagers from 14 to 17 years: 8 to 10 hours
  • Young adults aged 18 to 25: 7 to 9 hours
  • Adults 26 to 64: 7 to 9 hours
  • Adults age 65 and over: 7 to 8 hours
