Stop Eating Cucumbers And Tomatoes Together

Cucumber and tomato are both healthy and excellent foods. However, it is not recommended to consume them together. When we consume food, it is broken down into small molecules which are used by the cells of our organs. Non-digestible residues are then eliminated; it is the process of digestion. But for the latter to be optimal, certain foods should not be mixed together, according to the precepts of Ayuverda. These include cucumbers and tomatoes.

The principle of Ayuverda is based on harmony between body and mind with the aim of reducing stress, improving blood circulation or eliminating toxins from the body. It is an ancient Indian holistic healing science which means "science of life". Different from the way of Western consumption, the principle of Ayuverda is based on taste, energy and bodily balance.

The secret to good digestion lies in the right combination of foods

With this approach, it is not surprising to see so many conditions related to indigestion. The latter is often due to a bad combination of foods.

Indeed, each food has a taste, an energy and a post-digestive effect. And the wrong combination of foods with radically different energies can overwhelm the agni, an element representing digestive fire. This can lead to fermentation, putrefaction, gas formation and de facto accumulation of toxins.

List of bad food cucumbers combinations:

  • The protein / complex carbohydrate combination
  • The protein / protein association
  • The combination of cereals / acids / dairy products
  • The banana / dairy product association
  • The fruit / yogurt combination
  • The association of beans with dairy products and fruits
  • The mixture of eggs and fruits, beans and dairy products
  • Fruits at the end of the meal
  • Lemon associated with cucumbers and dairy products
  • Corn combined with bananas, dates or raisins
  • The tomato, cucumber, lemon salad mix

This last bad combination relating to tomato and cucumber, is explained by the fact that the tomato is a fruit while the cucumber is a vegetable. And although these two foods may appear healthy and good for you, their combination could interfere with proper digestion. In question, fruits and vegetables have different biochemical structures and therefore digestion at different stages.

To better explain it, although the tomato-cucumber combination works wonders in a salad, these two raw vegetables do not have the same digestion time: the cucumber is digested quickly, while the tomato registers a slower digestion which would have as a consequence of causing digestive discomfort and pain in the abdominal region.

This theory of good or bad food combinations is further supported by dietitian nutritionist Molly Knudsen. According to the latter, certain foods, combined together can promote good digestion, as they can cause, on the contrary, painful indigestion.

What advice should I follow in case of indigestion?

Against digestive discomfort and bloating, there are natural remedies that can soothe and relieve this discomfort. In this context, Muriel Rey, a pharmacist specializing in herbal medicine and aromatherapy, advises to consume carminative plants, such as fennel, cumin, coriander which reduce flatulence by absorbing intestinal gas. To do this, it is enough to prepare an infusion of these plants for 10 minutes before consuming it.

The specialist also recommends lemon balm, which acts as an antispasmodic for the digestive organs while soothing nervous tension.

Finally, it is also advisable to practice a belly massage with essential oils of tropical basil, tarragon or cumin. A massage with wide circular movements will ensure abdominal soothing for sure....
